ABOUT
Shaun Fischler, LPC, LAC

One thing you should know about me is that I am critical of the medical model as it relates to mental wellbeing, since this system has a tendency to over-pathologize normal responses to stressful life events. As a consequence to this model of care, we are living in an overmedicated and over diagnosed society, where we have been taught that pills are solutions to complex issues. I will never judge anyone if they decide to take psychotropic medication; I will, however, encourage you to research and ask your doctor about the impact medication has on your mind and body. It is possible that medication is the tool that what will help you to move forward in life, and as long as you are comfortable with the medication and what it is doing to and for you, that is what matters. I will always respect my client's autonomy to make choices they believe is best for them.
